Silver Heaven by Dave Williams

My favourite time of the year has arrived, from September right through the winter, I just love the colder months, to concentrate more on the Silver fish and not too much on Carp or F1 fishing.

I find it a lot more rewarding trying to figure out what you have in the lake, river or canal and switch over to more selected baits to try and put a decent net of Silvers together instead.

SPOTTEDFIN Groundbait.

My first trip out for Silvers I ventured to a local carp water which has a great head of Silvers, which rarely get fished, for called Greenwood Fishery and for the session I brought along a 4m whip, a couple of pints of red maggots a tin of corn and also a couple of bags of Spotted Fin GO2 Groundbaits,

Feeder Superblend and Skimmer Superblend, both low feed Groundbaits ideal for this style of fishing.

Bait choice for the day

I kicked off the session mixing the groundbait 50-50 and dropping 5 large balls in over the short 4m whip line at 6 foot deep, from the start it was manic with Perch, Roach, small Skimmers and Hybrids having a good old munch on the hookbaits presented to them, be it single maggot, double maggot or single Corn with a bite a put in, when the bites did dry up I fed a small nugget of groundbait by hand over the top and i was rewarded with some stunning Silvers.

Fishing swim.

Finishing the session with close on 30lb of Silvers and a bite a chuck. There are some fantastic groundbaits in the GO2 Range which are easily used on their own or to supplement your naturals baits.
